vanguard new music series: renegade ensemble with lumen antiqua

Arts on Lafond, Saint Paul, MN
Vocalists from RenegadeEnsemble, led by Jonathan Posthuma, will present new works for voices in their second performance on the Vanguard New Music Series following their debut in November 2023. Featured works will be mainly premieres of Minnesotan composers and a large multi-movement work inspired by the music of Hildegard von Bingen using melodicas and glass bowls.
Also on the program is the debut of Lumen Antiqua, a vocal trio founded by Rachel Farhi, Jessi McKinnon and Becca Tobin, will present works by local composers Abbie Betinis, Michael Maiorana and Becky Sun and a new work by Jonathan Posthuma with special guest vocalist Abs Trewin using texts inspired by Louisa May Alcott.

Our mini-tour of Northern Iowa, Winona, and the Twin Cities will conclude with a recording session of McKinley's song cycle at Wild Sound Recording Studio in Minneapolis, MN.

Presented by the Bach Society of Minnesota, "Seeds of Culture" is a collaborative musical-theatrical project plotted and arranged by Marco Real-d'Arbelles and SEE MORE PERSPECTIVE. The project has been performed several times since its premiere and features Real-d'Arbelles (violin) and SEE MORE (spoken word & sound mixing) alongside featured musicians Kat Parent (voice), Phillip Rukavina (lute), Elena Stabile (voice), and Rie Tanaka (piano).
